Irvine Moves, Village by Village
What we plan around is particular to Irvine: sweeping days on both streets, rules from a master association and sometimes a sub-association too, and traffic on I-5. For moves with their own requirements, see our pages on office moves in Irvine, long-distance moves from Irvine, house and condo moves in Irvine and piano moves in Irvine.
Rates and minimums for moves around Orange County are listed on our pricing page, common questions are answered in the FAQ, and out-of-state moves are covered on the long-distance page. We also give 1% of revenue to conservation projects.

Sweeping Days and Posted Signs
Residential streets in Irvine are swept twice a month, Tuesday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., and holidays are skipped. The City's interactive street-sweeping map gives the 2026 dates for every address. We look up both of your addresses on it before we lock in a moving date.
The sign on your block matters more than the map. Municipal Code Section 6-3-578, established by Ordinance No. 22-04 (introduced in March 2022), bars stopping, standing or parking on a sweeping street during its posted no-parking period. The Transportation Commission decides where those signs stand and the Public Works Director puts them up, so the crew reads the actual sign and loads around its hours, or parks on a side street and carries a little farther.
Street maintenance is the other surprise. Before slurry seal or residential resurfacing, the City posts temporary No Parking signs 72 hours ahead, and vehicles left on a signed street are towed. If signs like that go up on your street the week of the move, send us a photo, and we'll change the truck spot or the date.
Two Associations, One Address
According to the City of Irvine, some condominium communities are covered by both a master HOA and a sub-HOA. The master association cares for the larger shared spaces of a subdivision, such as median landscaping and private parks, while the sub-association looks after the smaller landscaped areas inside the cluster and the exteriors of the attached buildings.
On moving day that can mean two rulebooks. Put the same questions to both offices:
- which days and hours moves are allowed;
- where a moving truck may stand, and for how long;
- whether they want a certificate of insurance, and whose name goes on it.
We issue a COI for $50 per building and send it to whoever asks for it. The answers decide the start time and where the truck parks, so forward them to us as soon as you have them.
Woodbridge shows how the layers stack. The Woodbridge Village Association issues temporary parking permits for RVs, boats and other oversized vehicles, yet that permit does not release an owner from parking restrictions adopted by their sub-association. If your plan relies on such a permit, check with the sub-association too; more association rules for home moves are covered on our page for residential moves in Irvine.
Villages and the Homes in Them
Irvine was drawn before it was incorporated. The University of California's consulting architect, William Pereira, and Irvine Company planners laid out a city of 50,000 around the UC Irvine campus, and Turtle Rock, University Park, Culverdale, the Ranch and Walnut were finished by 1970. On December 28, 1971, residents voted to incorporate a city substantially larger than Pereira's plan.
The City's 2045 General Plan Update EIR still describes the residential areas as distinct villages, each with its own density, character and amenities. Housing started with low-density single-family homes and now covers a variety of property types, with condos and townhomes common. For the crew, the difference shows up in stairs, carry distance and the number of hands: a townhome with an inside staircase and a single-story house can take different crews and hours.
I-5, the 261 and the Clock
Caltrans District 12, working with OCTA, plans to widen I-5 between I-405 and SR-55, from about 0.4 mile north of the I-5/I-405 interchange to 0.2 mile south of SR-55, to ease congestion. Caltrans listed construction from February 2026. When a route uses that stretch, we check lane closures before the day and set the start time with them in mind.
The 261 Toll Road, which runs from Santiago Canyon Road to I-5, is another option on some routes. Because it charges tolls, we agree on it with you before moving day instead of choosing it on the way.
Moves within Irvine and to neighbors such as Tustin are billed by the hour with a 3-hour minimum, or 4 hours when the job is 30 or more miles from our service area. Rates by crew size and day of the week are on our pricing page, and the same hourly model applies elsewhere in Orange County.
Leaving Irvine for Another State
Out-of-state moves are priced differently. Instead of an hourly bill, you get a binding estimate built from distance, weight and the services you choose, and we move to all 50 states, as our long-distance moving page explains. The Irvine end of that trip still gets the same sweeping-map and association checks as a move across town.
