Commercial Movers in Irvine, Planned Around Your Building
Green Moving works as commercial movers in Irvine for companies of every size, from a suite with a handful of desks to a full floor of workstations. We follow the method laid out on our commercial moving service page: list everything, protect the building, move while the office is closed. This page covers what changes inside Irvine's business parks; for homes and the rest of the city, see moving in Irvine.
An office move here is shaped by the building as much as by the street. A property manager can limit moves to evenings and weekends, require a certificate of insurance on file before anyone rolls a dolly through the lobby, and send every load up the freight elevator. We gather those rules when you book, so move night starts with the paperwork done and the elevator time agreed.
Our office is at 3110 Spectrum in Irvine. Office moves that stay in Orange County are billed by the hour, at a rate set by crew size and day of the week, with a three-hour minimum. On an office move, the hours you save come from preparation, like cleared desks, labeled furniture and a confirmed dock time, far more than from the rate itself.

Parking, docks and permits
At an office park, truck position sets the pace of the load, so the dock is our first question. At Park Place, The Concourse building at 3337 Michelson Drive has a loading dock with five bays, and we confirm with management which bay is ours and for how long. Without a dock, we ask about the service lot and the walk to the freight elevator before estimating hours.
The curb is the fallback. Irvine's arterial roadways are typically swept weekly, Monday through Friday, between 2:30 and 7 a.m., when an overnight office move may still be loading. If the street is the only option, we tell you whether the spot needs a temporary permit and which stretch to hold.
Building rules and insurance
Park Place's moving guidelines show what an Irvine building can demand. Certificates of insurance must be on file with the Management Office before any work starts, the moving company sets a firm arrival time and names a contact, and the route through the building is agreed in advance, with tiled entrances off-limits.
Along that route, walls, door facings and elevator cabs get protective covering, finished floors get clean Masonite runners, and stone or tile gets plywood. Furniture, equipment and supplies all ride the freight elevator, rated 3,500 to 4,500 lbs depending on the building. We order the certificate, $50 per building, as soon as you book, and plan that protection before move day.
Business districts and office campuses
The Irvine Business Complex, City Planning Area 36 on the city's northwest side, mixes office, industrial, residential and mixed-use properties, so an IBC move can mean an office suite or an industrial unit. Park Place, in the Irvine Business District at Jamboree Road and the I-405, holds 2 million square feet on 105 acres within a mile of John Wayne Airport.
UCI Research Park is an Irvine Company office campus beside UC Irvine; UCI's archive records that in 1997 the UC Regents approved leasing 85 acres of undeveloped campus land to The Irvine Company to create University Research Park. Irvine Company Office's Spectrum campuses include Discovery Park, 123 acres and in the owner's words the Spectrum's most expansive office campus, and the 73-acre Spectrum Terrace. We quote by building type and entrance, since both change crew size.
Routes, timing and the hourly clock
The City of Irvine's Public Works & Transportation Department publishes a map of designated and restricted truck routes under the Irvine Municipal Code. We check the drive between your two addresses against it before move day, so a loaded truck stays on streets meant for it.
Timing matters because the clock runs by the hour. A move within Irvine carries the standard three-hour minimum; the four-hour minimum applies only to jobs starting more than 30 miles from our service area. Evening and weekend moves also keep the truck out of weekday commute traffic between the two buildings.
| Irvine district or building | What to plan for |
|---|---|
| Park Place, all buildings | Move-ins only outside weekday business hours or on weekends; at least 10 days' notice to the Management Office |
| Park Place tower, 3333 Michelson Drive | Ten stories: elevator time sets the pace, so upper floors load first |
| Atrium buildings, 3345-3355 Michelson Drive | Four stories, shorter elevator runs; lobby route agreed in advance |
| The Concourse, 3337 Michelson Drive | Five-bay loading dock; bay and hours confirmed before dispatch |
| IBC industrial and mixed-use buildings | Pallets and forklift items flagged at the quote, so trucks and crew fit the unit |
| UCI Research Park, Discovery Park, Spectrum Terrace | Large campuses: send the building number and service entrance |

Planning a Business Move in Irvine: Costs, Timing and Setup
What an office move in Irvine costs
Commercial work is billed by the hour, and two things set the rate: how many movers you need and which day you move. From Monday through Thursday, a truck with two movers runs $129 an hour, three movers $169 and four movers $209. From Friday through Sunday the same crews cost $145, $185 and $225, and every extra mover adds $40 an hour.
Three rules matter more to a business than to a household. After eight hours the rate goes to 1.5 times standard, so a large office often costs less split across two weeknights than squeezed into one long Saturday. A second truck is $120 a day, worth it when two floors load at once, and each building that wants a certificate of insurance adds $50.
Fuel, equipment and stairs never show up as separate lines on an office invoice from us. Blankets, stretch wrap, tape and furniture disassembly come with the rate; glass table crating ($75-$200) and extra heavy items ($150) are the add-ons an office is most likely to need, and all of them are listed on our pricing page.
What stretches the clock is rarely the drive. Long walks from dock to suite, a freight elevator shared with other tenants, workstations that must come fully apart and desks nobody cleared usually add more time than the miles between two Irvine addresses.
Everything we do as local commercial movers in Irvine, within the city or to another Orange County address, runs on these hourly rates. A long-distance office move to another state is quoted differently, as a binding estimate built on distance, weight and the services you choose; our long-distance moving page explains how that works, including moves to all 50 states.
Before move day: inventory, labels and the new floor plan
Any estimate from office movers in Irvine, ours included, is only as good as the list behind it: workstations and chairs, file cabinets, conference tables, break-room items, printers and whatever IT has to be powered down. We also ask for the floor plan of the new space, because the layout decides where each piece lands and which workstations have to come apart.
Labels do most of the work at the other end. Every item gets a tag with floor, room and seat number that matches the new plan, and a copy of that plan goes up by each doorway, so the crew places desks without stopping to ask. Staff pack their own drawers and personal items, while the crew wraps furniture and packs shared rooms, or the whole office through our packing and unpacking service.
The estimate lands closer to the final bill when the booking arrives with details. Send us the following:
- both addresses, with floor and suite numbers;
- each building's move rules and the property manager's contact;
- the exact wording each building wants on the insurance certificate;
- a rough count of workstations, file cabinets and boxes;
- the date your lease ends and any days the office can't close.
Confidential records deserve a plan of their own. Have your staff pack and seal those boxes, count them and set them aside to load last, so they come off first at the new suite and go straight to the room you choose.
Keeping the office open during the move
Most offices can't afford to lose a workday, and some Irvine buildings don't allow moves in business hours anyway; Park Place limits move-ins to evenings, early mornings and weekends. We work around both with the after-hours scheduling and weekend moves we offer every business client.
Bigger offices usually move in phases. A two-night plan for a mid-size office might look like this:
- Night one: supply closets, archived files, spare furniture and the departments that can work remotely the next day.
- Night two: the remaining workstations, conference rooms and break room, then servers and network gear once they are shut down.
- Before the crew leaves: your office manager checks each room against the floor plan with the crew lead.
Splitting the job this way also keeps each shift under the eight hours after which overtime applies. For timing, our recommendation is 4-6 weeks for business relocations, enough lead time to fit both nights into the building's calendar.
Office furniture, computers and files
Desks, workstations, conference tables and bookcases come apart where they need to, and the crew bags and labels the hardware with each piece so reassembly goes quickly. Disassembly and reassembly are part of the hourly rate, as are the blankets and stretch wrap on everything that rides the truck. Glass tabletops go in crates, the add-on mentioned above.
Computers, monitors, printers and servers are handled as described for our office moving service: disconnected, wrapped, moved and reconnected in their labeled spots. Your IT contact decides the shutdown order and backs up data before the last workday in the old suite.
Warehouse and flex units in the Irvine Business Complex
The IBC's blend of office and industrial property means some commercial moves there are part office, part warehouse. If you're comparing Irvine warehouse movers for a unit like that, start by telling us what the back of the space holds: boxed goods, shelving, workbenches or pallets.
Boxed goods, loose shelving and furniture move like any office load, at the same hourly rates, and a second truck can take the warehouse side while the first handles the office. Anything that needs a forklift, pallet jack or racking crew should come up when you ask for a quote, so we can say plainly what the crew can take.
Who does what on move night
- Your office manager approves the floor plan and labels, gives the building its required notice and stays reachable during the move.
- Property management holds the dock and freight elevator and needs our insurance certificate on file first.
- Your IT contact or vendor sets the shutdown order and books internet and phone activation at the new address.
- Our crew lead calls 30 minutes before arrival, runs the load order and keeps the protected route intact until the last trip.
Moves that start in Irvine and end elsewhere
When the new address is outside the city, the process stays the same and only the building rules change. Moving toward the coast? See our guide to office moving in Newport Beach, while the rest of Orange County runs on the same hourly model.
Staff who relocate their households along with the company book those moves separately. For anyone leaving California, moving out of state from Irvine explains how a household move is estimated and loaded.
