Professional Movers in Pasadena
We work as movers in Pasadena, CA for houses of every age, for apartments and campus housing, and for offices and storefronts. Each job is planned from the addresses, the date and the heavy or fragile pieces, and the crew size and truck follow from that list.
Moves around the area are billed by the hour at the rates on our pricing page, while a long-distance move gets a binding estimate instead. Green Moving has operated since 2022, and 1% of our revenue goes to environmental projects.

What Pasadena Movers Sort Out Before Loading Day

What Pasadena Movers Sort Out Before Loading Day
The city's Moving Permit and curb space
Pasadena's online Moving Permit is meant for oversize loads: travelling equipment taller than 14 ft, longer than 65 ft, wider than 8 ft 6 in or heavier than 40 tons (80,000 lb). When a job falls under it, the city asks for at least two working days if the applicant's insurance is already on file and at least two weeks if it is not.
The certificate has to name the City of Pasadena as certificate holder and carry an additional insured endorsement and a waiver of subrogation for auto liability. City offices also close every other Friday, and a request sent on one of those days waits for the next working Monday. We build that calendar into the move date instead of discovering it the week before.
Parking the truck at the curb is a separate question from that permit. Before the date, we check what your block requires and tell you which stretch of curb to keep clear on the morning of the move.
Caltech Housing move-outs and building paperwork
Before you book a mover in Pasadena for a campus move-out, file what Caltech asks for. Its housing office tells postdoc residents to submit an intent to vacate online at least 15 days ahead, and up to a week before departure Housing Maintenance emails the date and time of a pre-move-out inspection with a technician. Send us that time when it arrives, and we set the loading window around the appointment.
On check-out day, door keys, mail keys and any remotes go straight back to the Housing Office in the Center for Student Services. Before that, residents take out their own belongings and furniture, remove any nails or adhesive they put up, clean the common areas and put the apartment's furniture back in place. Point out which pieces belong to the unit: the crew leaves them behind and can help set them back where they stood.
If a condo board or building manager elsewhere in the city asks for a certificate of insurance, we issue one per building for $50, as listed on our pricing page. Send the exact wording the building needs with your booking so the certificate matches it.
Bungalow Heaven and other Craftsman-era houses
Bungalow Heaven is a neighborhood of hundreds of small single-family Craftsman bungalows, most of them built in the early 20th century, under a dense canopy of mature street trees. Before the truck backs in, the driver checks where the branches and parked cars leave room at the curb. Inside, the crew lays floor runners and pads walls and doorways before the first piece is carried out.
A small house does not always mean a small job, so we size the crew from the rooms: two or three movers for a studio or one-bedroom, four to six for three bedrooms and up. China, lamps and anything old or fragile can be packed ahead of loading day by our packing crew, whether that means the whole house or only the fragile items.
Freeways: the 210, the 134 and the Arroyo Seco Parkway
Coming from La Cañada Flintridge, the Foothill Freeway (I-210) turns due south to meet the Ventura Freeway (SR-134) in Pasadena, and at that interchange it becomes an east-west road. Also in Pasadena, the 210 connects with the unfinished northern stub of the 710, which leads to Colorado, Del Mar and California Boulevards. For addresses near those boulevards, the dispatcher sets the approach in advance rather than on the road.
Route 110 between Glenarm Street and US-101 is the Arroyo Seco Parkway, also known as the Pasadena Freeway, and Caltrans lists a ban on commercial vehicles over 6,000 lb along those 8.2 miles. A loaded moving truck bound for downtown Los Angeles therefore takes other roads, and the time plan we give you already reflects that route. Moves within the area are billed by the hour with a three-hour minimum, or four hours when the job is 30 or more miles from our service area.
Long-distance movers in Pasadena: west to I-5 or east to I-10
Westbound, I-210 runs from Pasadena to its western end at I-5 near the Sylmar district of Los Angeles. Eastbound, it passes the northern end of I-605 and reaches SR-57 in Glendora, near San Dimas, then carries on as state route SR-210 across I-15 to Redlands, where it meets I-10. Which of the two the truck takes depends on where your new home is.
For an out-of-state move from Pasadena, the price comes from a binding estimate (mileage, how much the load weighs and which extra services you want) rather than from hours on the clock. Details for all 50 states are on the long-distance moving page, and moves between neighboring cities start from our Los Angeles County hub.
