The City of Orange incorporated in 1888, and its historic heart is still the Plaza, the traffic circle at Chapman Avenue and Glassell Street. Around it spreads Old Towne, the largest National Register historic district in California, with blocks of Victorian and Craftsman houses, antique shops and the Chapman University campus. Farther out, Orange includes postwar tract neighborhoods, three Eichler tracts built in the early 1960s with glass walls and open plans, hillside neighborhoods such as Serrano Heights, and semi-rural Orange Park Acres with its large lots and horse trails.
