Professional Movers in Venice
So every job starts by finding the vehicle side of both addresses: an alley behind a walk-street house, a court off Dell Avenue for a canal home, Speedway behind the boardwalk, or an ordinary street. The walk from door to truck is billed as regular crew time, and our rates are on the pricing page.
Venice has long drawn artists, so we ask about canvases, sculpture and framed work when we plan the packing. Moves out of state are priced as long-distance moves, and 1% of the revenue from every move goes to environmental projects in California.

Venice Movers and the Doors a Truck Can't Reach

Venice Movers and the Doors a Truck Can't Reach
Walk Streets: Front Door on Foot, Truck in the Alley
The Venice Coastal Zone Specific Plan, Ordinance 175,693, defines walk streets as public streets improved for pedestrians and landscaping but not for cars, and it allows only emergency vehicles on them. Projects on lots beside a walk street must take vehicle access from other streets or alleys. In practice, many Venice houses have the front door and house number on the walk street and car access from an alley at the rear.
On these jobs we look at the alley before we look at the furniture. Is there a back gate or a garage wide enough for a sofa, and where can the truck wait while the crew loads? If a piece can only leave through the front door, it is wrapped indoors and carried along the walk street to the nearest point a truck can reach, and that walk is billed as ordinary crew time.
The Canals: Dell Avenue, Courts A Through E and the Footbridges
The six Venice Canals date from 1905 and run about 1.5 miles: Carroll, Linnie, Howland and Sherman east to west, Eastern and Grand north to south. The City restored them in the early 1990s, finishing in 1993 with rebuilt footbridges and new sidewalks, and the Venice Canal Historic District has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1982.
Vehicles have a single way in, the one-way entrance at Dell Avenue and Sherman Canal. Dell crosses four canal bridges from south to north, homes are reached from it by Courts A through E, and nine footbridges carry pedestrians within the canals. Before moving day we work out which court serves the house, where the truck can wait and how many minutes each trip on foot will take.
The Specific Plan also requires canal-facing lots to keep an open front yard, set back an average of 15 feet from the canal-side property line and never less than 10. When furniture leaves by the canal-facing door, that yard is part of the carry, so we include it in the plan.
Ocean Front Walk, Speedway and the Marina Peninsula
Ocean Front Walk is a 2.5-mile pedestrian promenade lined with performers, vendors and businesses; Venice Boulevard ends at it, and Venice Beach draws millions of visitors a year. Barriers keep unauthorized vehicles off the boardwalk, and in June 2025 new Meridian barriers were being installed there.
The Specific Plan divides the coastal zone of Venice into eight subareas, and on one of them, the Marina Peninsula, driveways and vehicle access for projects on lots beside Ocean Front Walk must come from Speedway unless the Department of Transportation finds that not feasible. Commercial projects beside the boardwalk must also take access from Speedway where feasible and may never take vehicle access from Ocean Front Walk itself. For boardwalk addresses we plan the load from the Speedway side and keep the truck off the promenade entirely.
Curb Signs, Building Rules and Insurance Certificates
Venice is not a separate city: it is a neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles on the Westside of Los Angeles County. For temporary No Parking signs, LADOT's FAQ names the Special Traffic Control Division as the contact. We specify the stretch of curb the truck needs and the hours it will stand there, so the sign request matches the plan whoever submits it.
If your Venice building or HOA asks for a certificate of insurance, we issue one for $50 per building, the price listed on our pricing page. Send us its move rules early, such as elevator reservations or allowed hours, and we plan the day around them.
Lincoln Boulevard, SR 90 and Moves Out of State
Lincoln Boulevard runs through Venice as State Route 1, signed from Sepulveda Boulevard at LAX north to the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10). In April 2025 Caltrans sought public input on a feasibility study of peak-hour bus lanes on the three miles of Lincoln between Venice Boulevard and West Manchester Avenue, a study focused on heavy congestion there. Santa Monica, just north of Venice, installed peak-hour bus lanes on Lincoln between Pico Boulevard and Ozone Avenue in 2017.
State Route 90 begins at Lincoln near Marina del Rey as the Marina Expressway, becomes the Marina Freeway, meets I-405 at an interchange and ends at Slauson Avenue in southern Culver City. Because crew time is billed by the hour, we choose between Lincoln, SR 90 and I-10 by destination and time of day, and we try to keep loaded driving on Lincoln out of peak hours.
Moves from Venice to another state follow our long-distance model: a binding estimate from three inputs, the distance, the weight of the shipment and the services you add. Loading day begins with the same access questions as any Venice move, and the truck then leaves by Lincoln toward I-10 or by SR 90 toward I-405, depending on where you are headed.
