Professional Movers in Bel Air
The City's SurveyLA report describes streets that follow the hills instead of a grid, with many narrow, winding roads and some dead ends, and homes often hidden behind walls or set far back on large lots. For Bel Air movers, that puts the road, the drive and the gate ahead of the boxes, so those are the first things we ask about.
Moves within Los Angeles are billed by the hour, and the rates are on our pricing page; the FAQ covers arrival windows and crew sizes. A move to another state is a long-distance move, priced as a binding estimate instead.

What Our Bel Air Movers Plan Before the Truck Arrives

What Our Bel Air Movers Plan Before the Truck Arrives
Parking on Canyon Streets and Red Flag Days
Bel Air has no city hall of its own: it is a residential neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles. LADOT's FAQ points questions about requesting temporary No Parking signs to its Special Traffic Control Division. If signs are needed, whoever requests them will want to know exactly where the truck will stand, so we mark the stretch of curb it needs or confirm that your driveway can hold it.
Parts of Bel Air Estates lie inside the City's Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. On a declared Red Flag Day, when winds reach 25 mph or more and humidity drops to 15% or less, LAFD's program bans parking at posted Red Flag No Parking signs on narrow roads, hairpin turns, sharp curves and key intersections, and vehicles left there are towed. We look up your street on LAFD's interactive map when you book and check for a declaration before moving day.
The Bel-Air Association, which says it has served the community since 1942, asked residents in a notice dated January 10, 2025 not to park, or let others park, in any No Parking or Red Flag zone, and to park off-street so emergency vehicles could get through. We apply the same idea on moving day: the truck loads from a legal spot or from the driveway, not from a curve where it would block the road.
Gates, Private Streets and Bel Air Crest
SurveyLA found many Bel Air-Beverly Crest homes screened by privacy walls, fences or shrubbery or set far back on large lots, and others on private streets or inside gated communities. One gated example is Bel Air Crest, a guard-gated, HOA-governed development near Sepulveda Boulevard off the I-405. We do not guess at gate rules, so when you book, please send us:
- the gate instructions and who lets vehicles in;
- the contact for the HOA, association or property manager;
- whether a certificate of insurance is required, and in whose name;
- the length of the drive and whether a truck can turn around on it.
We provide a COI for $50 per building, as listed on our pricing page. On the day, the crew calls 30 minutes before arrival, which gives whoever opens the gate time to expect the truck.
East Gate, West Gate and Upper Bel Air
Bel Air is usually divided into East Gate Old Bel Air, West Gate Bel Air and Upper Bel Air. Its two main entrances are on Sunset Boulevard: the East Gate at Beverly Glen Boulevard, where Bel Air Road heads north, and the West Gate at Bellagio Way, opposite an entrance to UCLA. East Gate is the original 1923 tract along Bel Air Road and its branch roads, such as Saint Pierre, Saint Cloud, Copa de Oro and Nimes, with large estates built mostly before World War II.
In those older estates we ask early about antiques, chandeliers and framed art. Pieces that need a crate go through our white glove service, which also covers photos of each item's condition and hanging art at the new house.
Housing across the area is overwhelmingly single-family: SurveyLA identified only two postwar garden-apartment complexes, and the few multi-family clusters sit on upper Roscomare Road and near Sepulveda Boulevard and Moraga Drive. For a house of three bedrooms or more, our FAQ puts the crew at four to six movers, and that number is written into your quote.
Sunset, the 405 and the Sepulveda Pass
The Bel Air-Beverly Crest plan area lies south of Mulholland Drive, north of Sunset Boulevard and east of the I-405, and Mulholland, a designated Scenic Parkway, is the only east-west street that links it end to end. The Community Plan, adopted in 1996, says Sunset should not be widened to add capacity and notes critical deficiencies in the north-south arterials and freeways crossing the community. For that reason we fix the truck's route in and out before moving day, not on the road.
Trucks join the I-405 at Sunset Boulevard or, for northbound trips, at Moraga Drive. North of there the freeway climbs the Sepulveda Pass toward the San Fernando Valley, a stretch that commonly slows for hours, and Caltrans' pavement rehabilitation work between Van Nuys and Westwood has brought extended weekend lane reductions and ramp closures. Moves inside Los Angeles are billed by the hour with a three-hour minimum, so we check current Caltrans notices and set a start time that keeps the day short.
Moving From Bel Air to Another State
Out-of-state trips usually start on the I-405: north toward I-5, which the freeway merges with in Sylmar, or south to I-10 in West Los Angeles. A long-distance move is not billed by the hour; it is a binding estimate based on distance, weight and the services you choose. We plan the loading end in Bel Air exactly as we would for a move across town, from the truck spot to the gate list.
Moves between Bel Air and other parts of the county are covered on our Los Angeles County page. If the new home is in Beverly Hills, the other end of the move follows that city's own curb and truck rules, and we plan for them separately.
