Nearly every move here starts or ends at a detached house, so the hard part is outside: where a truck may stand, who runs a private road and which ramp serves your block. Each note below pairs a city rule with what our movers do about it.

Where the truck can stand

Street parking is allowed on most city streets, per the General Plan. The Municipal Code adds three limits that shape where a moving truck can wait:

• From 2 to 5 a.m., no vehicle may park or stand on Foothill Boulevard, on Angeles Crest Highway north of Foothill, or on streets in commercial and office districts (4.04.090).
• On residential streets, a commercial vehicle rated at 10,000 lb or more may not park at any time, except to load or unload (4.04.100).
• A vehicle six feet tall or more may not park within 100 feet of an intersection (4.04.130).

So our truck comes on the morning of the move and leaves once it's loaded, and on a corner lot we load from the driveway or farther down the block, clear of that 100-foot zone. Time limits and permit-only zones are set street by street under Resolution 24-43. On Alveo Road and parts of Alminar Avenue and Baptiste Way, parking is limited to one hour from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days, so on those blocks we plan to load from the driveway.

Red Flag Warnings and the approved parking program

The whole city lies in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. In November 2025 the City Council approved a No Parking During Red Flag Warning program; once enforced, it will restrict parking during a warning on both sides of collector streets and streets narrower than 30 feet, and on one side of single-access and evacuation streets.

As of late September 2026, the city's program page gives no start date for enforcement. We check it and AlertLCF before your move, and if enforcement has begun and a warning falls on moving day, the truck uses your driveway or the side of the street that stays open.

Private roads, HOAs and condo buildings

The General Plan describes private roads as neighborhood streets not dedicated to or maintained by the city, typically kept up by a homeowners' association. If you live on one, ask the association about truck access, gate codes and hours, and send us the gate contact.

When an HOA or a building manager asks for a certificate of insurance, we issue one at $50 per building, as listed on our pricing page. Condos are rare: 296 of the city's 7,053 housing units, about 4%, are in buildings with three or more units (ACS 2020-2024). In those, ask the manager about move hours and where the truck loads.

Big lots and older houses

The land-use map in the 2013 General Plan includes Hillside Residential land, at most one home per 10 acres, and Estate Residential, at most one per acre, alongside districts of up to two, four and more homes per acre. On the larger lots the front door can sit far from the curb, so we check whether the truck fits the driveway and, if it doesn't, plan the carry path and add movers.

Half the city's homes were built in 1957 or earlier, and most have three or more bedrooms, a size our FAQ matches with four to six movers. The crew lays floor runners, pads door frames and stair rails, and takes apart furniture that won't clear a doorway whole. Our packing crew can box the whole house or only the fragile items.

Freeway ramps, truck limits and moves out of state

The city has no designated truck routes, and through truck traffic is barred on city streets, so a truck reaches your address by the shortest route from I-210 or SR-2. Of the I-210 exits in the area, 19 serves the Glendale Freeway, 20 Angeles Crest Highway, 21 Gould Avenue and Foothill Boulevard, and 22A Berkshire Avenue and Oak Grove Drive. Gould and Foothill are half-interchanges, so we confirm which directions their ramps serve.

Angeles Crest Highway north of I-210 is closed to trucks with three or more axles or over 4.5 tons as far as Big Pines, so it's never on our route. For an office or shop on Foothill Boulevard, the city's only regional arterial and main commercial street, we can move you after business hours.

A move to another state gets a binding estimate built on distance, weight and the services you choose, not an hourly bill; see long-distance moving. The truck takes I-210 west to I-5 at Sylmar, or east past Pasadena to Glendora, where it becomes SR-210 and runs across I-15 to I-10 at Redlands; the Glendale Freeway heads south through Glendale to SR-134 and I-5. Moves to nearby cities in Los Angeles County are hourly, with a three-hour minimum.
